Simon Hantaï: Azzurro | Gagosian Quarterly
Join curator Anne Baldassari as she discusses the exhibition "Simon Hantaï: Azzurro"-presented at Gagosian, Rome, from February 2-March 30, 2024-and the significance of blue in the artist’s practice. The show forms part of a triptych with Gagosian’s two previous Hantaï exhibitions, "LES NOIRS DU BLANC, LES BLANCS DU NOIR" at Le Bourget in 2019-20, and "Les blancs de la couleur, la couleur du blanc" in New York, in 2022: on.gagosian.com/4d8dXFU

Просмотров 1,1 тыс.Месяц назад
As part of the Gallery Met Banners project, the Metropolitan Opera has commissioned Anna Weyant to create a painting to celebrate the staging of Giuseppe Verdi’s Italian opera "La Forza del Destino." The work will be reproduced in the form of a sixty-foot banner installed on the façade of Lincoln Center in New York through March 31. Weyant’s painting, which shares the same name as the opera, po...
Installation of Francesca Woodman's Blueprint for a Temple (II) | Gagosian
Просмотров 662Месяц назад
Francesca Woodman's "Blueprint for a Temple (II)"-the largest work the artist accomplished-is a collage assembled from twenty-four diazotype elements and four gelatin silver prints. Using diazotype, a medium typically employed to create architectural blueprints, allowed Woodman to work at a monumental scale. The composition depicts the right half of a temple façade and features four caryatids-f...

Amazing ❤
How I miss the early GB. These aren't complete failures, but they have no emotional heft and are bereft of imaginative power - which is what he intends. His desire to depersonalize his art might be fulfilled, but he still has a signature style and thus wants to be marketable. The paradox/contradiction/irony of making art under capitalism.
laswell paints the room, zorn the artwork
whoa! Amazing
Who did the music for this? Really set the mood
god dang artist this guy
I wish each piece could have its own room… the gravity of each is tainted by proximity.
If they were any good, sure
I kinda wish someone would've asked him more about the technical process. He was cagey about what it "meant," but I think he woulda been more open about how he actually applied paint, etc.
🌞👍
The first sentence sung already has me deep in my feels... Fkn love her❤❤❤❤
These are much more mature than the early work. I'm glad to see he didn't peak too early.
"Whoever wishes to devote himself to painting should begin by cutting out his own tongue." ~~~ Matisse
Beautiful but couldn't he endlessly repeat this motif?
This guy eric’s hair is over the top
Omgoodness 😭
Please ditch the background music; it's unnecessary.
Love this. Great use of color. I also share your love of Vertigo and the shade of green Itchcock featured, especially in the bedroom scene.
I was able to see this exhibit in New York. It was marvelous.
Always made sure to catch any Zorn/Laswell shows in NYC since the early 90s Always amazing & inspiring.
mega
24:37 Manet not Monet painted "Olympia" a bit of a faux pas there Jeff, but he corrected himself a bit later luckily.
Two of the greatest artists of our time 🤩
Wunderbar, Anselm ist ein Zauberer.
Ugh. This isn't art. Abstraction and, by extension, abstract expressionism makes me want to barf. I can't believe half the garbage that's made now=a=days or has been made= and it's not good or talented. I always say, of this kind of work and the movement in general- these are people who want to seem like they are somebody but have none of the talent of people who actually ARE somebody. The entire art movement is predicated on such dreck. If anyone can make it- it's not art.
❤
...just been reading his Autobiography, hoping for photography tips.....er....but it's all wartime and women so far....!!
Gorgeous colors and textures! The music and aerial perspectives perfectly capture the childlike wonder he's expressing. It feels very authentic. 🌞👍
Not my type of "art"
What is all this virtue signaling talk about borders at the beginning ? Unbearable BS. Creative types should stick to their specialties and leave these divisive subjects to those living off this dirt ; politicians and medias whores.
Hello
Stanley seems like a really cool guy and I would enjoy his company, for sure. But…. I’m reminded of a 3rd grade art project with tempera paints and poster board. That’s exactly what his works look like to me. This is Not art. Sorry Stan.
I love her voice
Thank you! 🌞👍
Richard Prince bought all my drawings from me a few years ago. Everything I had available at the time. There were 113 in total. I sometimes wonder where they are now. It was a huge boost for me at the time.
mm-hmm!!
damn!
rad!
Keep it coming! 😄
The power of the apron to inspire......thank you mothers
My lady in another lifetime.
What an amazing person and artist! Thank you for introducing her to me. I shall follow her career with much admiration.
blown away! beauty, philosophy, awareness, amalgamation of some of the best genius artists but with his own genius ressurecting the eternal with his own unique flame.
Porfavor en Español😢
Beautiful
Total decorative crap, like 99% of his work. Time to retire; Damien.
I love Brice Marden
I like these aha
Rubbish. Pure crap.
